Glenrose Fashion Exhibition

This is an independent fashion show based around my grandparents house. I utilized the architectural and decorative design elements of their home and translated them into clothing, using pattern, colour, and form. The house was designed by my grandparents, inspired by Scandinavian art and design from their time living in Denmark. From September up until the show in June, I developed 13 looks, all of them made by hand using self-taught pattern making and pattern adjustment techniques. I envisioned the clothing being staged in the house itself, the place that inspired their creation. We shot promotional material, photos and videos, and made posters and pamphlets. With the help of my friends and family, we welcomed 60 guests and a live jazz trio of classmates from Rosedale Heights. I had the models display each look one by one as I explained the inspiration behind each. Iā€™m very proud of the outcome of my first independent show. It gave me a glimpse into the work that goes into producing a show and helped me understand that I have an amazing and supportive community to rely on.

There are so many people to thank for their support through this long process. Firstly, to my grandparents, Mary and Clive Clark for their generosity in welcoming all of us into their home. Thank you to my parents, Panya and Javier, for their unconditional support. To Liam Weiss for shooting incredible photo and video for promotion and documentation. To my dear friend Kioni Sasaki-Picou, for photographing the show. I extend my gratitude to all my lovely models who brought my garments to life. Thanks to Dante Hayes for helping with the logistic of the show. And finally, thank you to our talented live musicians, Jesse White on guitar, Izzy Flores on piano, and Jarrah Csunyoscka on bass guitar. Thank you all for coming!
